I have some FUN news to share with you today!!!
Baby #6 will be joining our family this December!!
About a year ago I started having this feeling that we were missing someone. I would quickly count the kids to make sure they were all there, but it still felt like there was an empty spot in our home and in my heart. We weren't exactly sure when or if we would actually add another member to our already big family so I would push those feelings aside with the idea that we would wait to make the decision at a later time.
We strive each day to live our lives in a way that allows our Heavenly Father to guide and direct us along the path that he knows is best for our family. In my heart I knew that if there was indeed another little one waiting, it would eventually happen and when the time was right. Then when we were least expecting it, we found out that there was in fact a precious new little baby on the way!! Needless to say we are beyond thrilled and I'm excited to fill that space in our family that I have felt was missing for quite a while now!
I'm not normally one to take maternity photos but my friend Amanda was here visiting recently so we decided to do a quick shoot and take some fun pictures! We were in the middle of a dust storm and it was over 100 degrees out so I kinda felt like I was melting, but I love that she was able to capture the joy and excitement I am feeling!
I also wanted to do something fun to announce the gender of the new baby so we brought along some sequins and glitter!
Baby #6 is a boy!!!!! We are super excited to have another boy! We were in boy mode for many years and then switched over to baby girl mode when we had Emily and Elizabeth. Now it sort of feels like we are starting over as we switch back to baby boy mode again!!
I would love to know your favorite sources for cute boy clothing, blankets, etc. so please link me up to your fave sites and shops!! I haven't shopped for baby boy clothes in years and we are swimming in piles of pink blankets so I am definitley on the hunt to get ready for this new little guy!!
Thanks for letting me share our big news with you today!!! We can't wait to welcome him to our family!!!

Today Amanda has such a darling project to share with us! She is seriously the queen of sending beautiful happy mail.... which I can personally vouch for because I have been the lucky recipient of some of those amazing cute packages! She is showing us how to use an embossing folder on a manilla tag today and I love the result! If you haven't played with the doily embossing folder from my Styleboard collection yet, you are definitely going to want to after reading this!!
Hi Friends! I love sending cards to friends to brighten their day and for a fun extra surprise when getting their mail. Today I am excited to share with you a fun way to use your doily embossing folder to make a cute manilla tag card.
Using the embossing folder was super easy. I love that it is clear so you can see exactly where to place your paper without having to guess. Once my manilla tag was embossed, I cut one of my styleboard collection papers to the width of the manilla tag. Down the side of my styleboard paper I sewed a few scrap pieces of paper along with a few ribbons. I always keep my scraps, I just can't throw them away!!! I also used my stamp to add some hearts to the top.
I cut a second piece of styleboard paper for the back to write on and simply glued the two pieces together.
And to finish the card off I added a fun instax picture on top and paper clipped them together. I love layering and using lots of different textures. Once the card was finished I inserted it into a clear glassine bag. And then into a standard mailing envelope.
I can't wait to use the doily embossing folder again. It was so fun and easy, and adds such a fun texture.

Guess what? I have a new product in Michael's Stores right now and it is a "hot buy" item, which means it can be found for as little as $5! Who doesn't love a good deal right?
This pack of papers feautres the "best of" from all of my collections including my most recent line, Styleboard!! They are sized at 8.5 x 11" which is not available anywhere else and works great for scrapbooking and crafting! The paper in the pack is a heavier weight cardstock, common to double-sided scrapbook paper.
The pack retails for $19.99, but because it is what they call a "hot buy" item, it drops to $5 regularly, so keep your eyes out for it and snag some up when it drops in price!
>> GIVEAWAY <<
Not only did I want to give you a heads up on this Michael's Hot Buy, but I have a pack to GIVE AWAY here on my blog as well!! To enter to win the Maggie Holmes Paper Pack at Michael's, leave a comment here on this post. I will be back later in the week to draw a winner at random. Good luck!
I tend to like scrapbook layouts with white backgrounds but then I also like to use pretty patterned papers as well, so I am often torn between using a neutral cardstock background or going for it and using a patterned paper. I LOVE what Stephanie did here because she incorporated both of those... using a white cardstock and covering half the background with a patterned paper! I also LOVE how she used the patterned piece on a diagonal. It adds great visual interest to the page!
One of my favorite ways to highlight pretty patterned paper is to use it in a graphic way. Many of the patterned papers in collections already have some sort of graphic design to them and playing off that design can be very eye catching.
For my layout today, I decided to use this beautiful mint green diagonal striped paper from the Styleboard collection. Instead of using it as my entire background, I folded my paper in half diagonally (following the lines already on the paper), and then trimmed down my folded line. I then added the patterned paper to my white background to create a graphic design look to my page.
I kept my photos and paper layers in the center of the page to draw your eye to where the paper and white cardstock meet. I also chose to add in a brighter colored alpha with my title to add a little pop and contrast to my layout.
A few simple embellishments alongside my photos and in the top right hand corner were the finishing touches to this page! I really love how this page turned out and I especially love the graphic feel to it!!
